The beef noodle soup was pretty incredible. It was a huge bowl of soup and I couldn't finish it. The noodles were pretty much spaghetti. The beef was tender and flavorful, but I noticed some strange markings on them. Looks kind of like tire tread. Maybe someone could explain that to me. It was good, so I can't complain. There was a lot of flavor in this bowl. I'd definitely hit it again.
Those rice dumplings are gross though. I took the first bite with the rice and it wasn't too bad. Then I took a picture with a bite of pork and when I took that bite, I could tell something was bad wrong. I had to spit it out. I don't know what it was but the meat must have been spoiled or something. It was awful. I've never had anything taste that bad. All was forgiven when I went back to eating my soup though. At this point I decided to go with 4 stars.
When I went to pay, the young man who served me asked specifically how I like each dish. I can't tell you how many times at the check out someone asks and I tell the truth and they say "well that's too bad. It's gonna be $10.92" or something. It was different at China Dragon. He asked because he cared. And I gave him my opinion and he said he wouldn't ring up the food I didn't like. No questions asked. He was willing to do what it took to get me to leave happy and I appreciate it. And then he bowed for me in a customary way. I also notice him bowing when he brought food to my table. It's rare these days that I feel this welcomed as a customer.
The very next day after writing this review, I stopped back in and ordered an egg foo young. That's when I realized I made the right call by awarding them 5 stars. -

If you like chinese food, this is one of the best authentic chinese restaurants in town specializing in Taiwanese dishes and more.
Hidden at the corner of Hacks and Winchester rd, this place can be easily missed if you don't look carefully. From the ambiance to the tentative and friendly staff, this is why I come here to dine.
I have had their minced pork over rice, fresh steamed fish, beef noodle soup, popcorn chicken, 3 cup chicken and green beans. They are all spectacular and growing up from NYC, I am glad we have China dragon as a spot to grub now in Memphis. More variety for this city.
Do go visit if you haven't done so already, you won't be disappointed. Ask questions if you don't know what the dish is and the staff would be happy to explain and recommend you on some local favorites. -

I've reviewed this place before. But with new ownership comes new review, albeit a year late! You may have seen the number of photos I've posted from this place. I wouldn't be posting those photos if the food wasn't good!
China Dragon is like the only Chinese/Taiwanese restaurant in town that dedicates a large collection of dishes to Taiwanese street foods. My favorite items on the authentic Taiwanese menu is the rice dumpling and beef noodle soup. Rice dumplings are like Asian tamales made with rice in case you wonder. No place else in Memphis serves it. The value of this rice dumpling here is fantastic at $2.50 each. I can get full with just 2. That's right, me, a fatty could get full on $5! The only thing missing from the rice dumpling is a good sweet and spicy sauce that's traditionally used in Taiwan. They use siracha instead.
As for the beef noodle soup, there are multiple Chinese/Taiwanese places in town that serve it. Of them, 3 other places serve it Taiwanese style: Wang's, Mosa, and Royal Panda. I can't decide whose is best, but I can tell us that portion wise, China Dragon serve the greatest amount. They serve Chinese old sour mustard greens on the side with it. At Wang's, you'll have to ask for regular sour mustard greens (there's a difference in old and regular).
Another item I would highly recommend is the Three Cup Squid. It's a squid stirred fried in a basil sauce.
Anyways, that's enough for this review. Eat and be well, my friends! -

The food wasn't great... and we had to order twice on Uber eats because they forgot half our food... when it arrived they ignored our request for No Eggs...

Love the authentic Taiwanese menu! I just wish it were also translated into English - glad my parents can read it. They have prompt service and delicious food. We liked their pork plate, eggplant, 3 cup chicken, and several other dishes. Check out their new bubble tea menu on the back counter - their boba is fresh not frozen, and the milk tea isn't overly sweet. FYI it's iced, not blended smoothie-style. Plenty of parking.
